Housing (Scotland) Act 2014

The Housing (Scotland) Act 2014 - the changes are coming...

At long last it would appear that the various changes proposed by the Housing (Scotland) Act 2014 are about to be introduced.  Changes will affect the following areas:
  • Legal Framework for Allocations
  • Suspensions
  • Streamlined Evictions
  • Short SST for Homeowner
  • Assignation, Subletting, Joint Tenancies and Succession
  • Recovery of Properties designed or adapted for Special Needs
  • Short SST for Antisocial Behavious
The implementation will take place in phases over the next 18-24 months and will start with draft guidance being issued later next month.

Various parliamentarly processes will be required to allow full implementation and it is hoped that final guidance will be available by the end of this year.  The final versions of the guidance will include all the relevant forms and notices, and will also include the amend legislation.

The proposals themselves will start to be introduced from the autumn and it will take until early 2018 for all of the changes to become effective.
