Our Properties in Thurso

This is a summary of the properties we own and operate in Wick, plus a little bit of the history behind them.

Pennyland Estate

This was one of the first estates purchased by Pentland Housing Association in 1993. This purchase was made by the tenants and residents of the scheme.

Mount Vernon Estate

This was the other estate purchased in 1993 by the tenants and residents of the Pennyland and Mount Vernon Estates in Thurso.

Swanson Street

In 2001 we redeveloped a brown field development site in Thurso which consists of 8 flats and including the refurbishment of existing derelict buildings.

Ormlie Hill

A Project that consisted of 3 properties to meet the special needs of families in Thurso. All were to fully wheelchair standard.


A brown field site in Thurso was completed in 2 phases, the1st Phase consisted of flats and the 2nd Phase consisted of 4 additional flats and single storey properties aimed at the elderly or less able bodied.

Janet Street

Completed in March 2005 this development in Thurso consisted of 2 wheelchair houses and 4 flats. The second phase was completed in June 2007. This saw the removal of an industrial unit and the area is now purely residential. The second phase installed renewable energies.

Leitch Court

This development was completed in July 2007 and is on the Eastern edge of Thurso. The existing farm steading at Springpark Farm was used in a court yard style design with a mixuture of sizes of 13 properties. Four of the 13 were sold under the shared equity scheme.

Meadow Court

This development was completed in September 2007 and is in a town centre location in Thurso. This is an ideal location for the main shopping centre plus all facilities. There are 22 two bedroom flats, of which 8 were sold through shared equity. There are also a further 2 three bedroom flats.

Falconer Waters Court

This development was completed in March 2009 and was the old Ormlie Allotment Ground in Thurso. There are a mixture of 22 properties, made up of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom family accommodation. Two houses are wheelchair accessible properties. They are energy efficient with high levels of insulation and solar gain.

Mount Pleasant, Thurso

This is a large site on the Eastern boundary of Thurso in the ownership of J Gunn and Son, a local developer.

The proposed development has planning permission and has the potential to provide a mix of house size/types and tenure to assist in meeting the longer term demands in Thurso.

We purchased 2 houses, for which we received grant funding during 2009/10. The houses have been sold through the New Supply Shared Equity Scheme.
