Pentland Housing Association believes involving tenants is a very important part of delivering effective, good-quality housing. We believe when tenants feel involved they are more satisfied with their housing. We are keen that the decisions we make reflect tenant's priorities and that they have the opportunity to be involved either on their own or as part of a group.
We are committed to involving tenants in the work of the housing service. Since the formation of the Association, tenants have been represented as equal partners. There are tenants on the Board of the Association and we want to encourage more tenants to play a part in managing the Association. Tenants should be able to have a say in issues that affect their homes and environment in a way that suits them. Tenants should also be able to comment on how their housing services are performing and suggest what improvements they would like to see. We believe that successful tenant involvement leads to better decision-making that reflects local needs and leads to more stable communities. Tenants have the right to information about the terms of their tenancy and about our repairing obligations (including repairs response times); housing management policies (including those relating to allocations and transfers); rent and service charge policy and complaints policy. Information about these policies and copies of them can be obtained from the office.
All tenants are encouraged to become members of the Association, which enables them to raise issues and vote at our Annual General Meeting and to stand for election to our Board of Directors . Membership of the Board provides direct input into the formulation, approval and monitoring of detailed policies.
